Paul Woolnough is a serial entrepreneur recognized for his visionary approach to business and global operational success.
MEDIA:
From its inception in 2003 until 2018, Paul served as the Executive Vice President and Board Member of Penske Media Corporation (www.pmc.com). His unique entrepreneurial, operating, negotiation and problem-solving skills enabled Paul and Jay Penske, its founder and CEO, to build PMC from the ground up into one of the world’s largest digital media companies. PMC now owns household name media brands such as Rolling Stone, Variety, Robb Report, Hollywood Reporter, Billboard Magazine, the South by Southwest Festival (SXSW), Women’s Wear Daily, Footwear News, HollywoodLife.com, Deadline, Indiewire, BGR, TV Line, and many more. As a part of his leadership role at PMC, Paul was responsible for all contract matters, mergers, and acquisitions, managed all joint ventures and strategic partnerships, international brand development, licensing and expansion, investor relations and oversaw all global operations. Under his guidance PMC opened and operated offices around the world, including India where Paul served as PMC’s Director of India.com, a joint venture between PMC and ZEE Entertainment Ltd, one of the largest television and media companies in India. Paul also served as a Director and Trustee for the Variety Foundation, a non-for-profit organization that hosts the illustrious Power of Women events in Los Angeles and New York. Paul worked directly with PMC’s Advisory Board that included such illustrious people as Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple Computers, Dennis Repp, the former President of Union Bank Venture Capital and Allstate, and Paul Hazen, the Chairman of Vodafone and former CEO and Chairman of Wells Fargo Bank.
MOTORSPORTS:
Born in Coventry, England, where his father was a car designer, Paul grew up around cars and motorsports. His first love was rallying, and as a young boy got to experience the sport close up with the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus cars that won the world championship.
After relocating to the USA, from its inception in 2007 until 2019, Paul served as a Principal and Vice President of Dragon Racing, that became Dragon Penske Autosport and now is known as DS Penske, a professional motorsports race team founded by Jay Penske.
The team originally competed in the pinnacle of open-wheel US professional motorsports - IndyCar, and now is one of 12 team franchises competing in the zero emissions all-electric FIA Formula E Global Motorsports Championship (www.fiaformulae.com).
During his tenure the team achieved a top 5 finish at the Indy 500 and a 2nd place in the inaugural FIA Formula E World Championship.
Paul's focus is now on green and sustainable motorsports and digital media, that have always been a part of his DNA.
